Fido’s Festivities @ Bow chika Wow Town

This is your dog’s holiday party!

Most families are so busy during the holidays and the dog often gets left out.  This class is THE way to bring the dog into the fun and add some four legged holiday spirit.   This is a terrific way to de-stress over the holidays.  This class is just fun, games, tricks, agility, and an overall good time!  Your dog won’t even know this is training. (kind of like when we hide their meds in cheese!)

No one likes to come empty handed to a party, right?  Here is what you can bring:

  • 5-6 foot leash attached to your pup on a flat collar, head collar or front clip harness
  • Yummy teats cut up in bite size pieces and a clicker (if you are doing clicker training)
  • Party fouls include: retractable leashes, martingales, choke or prong collars.

Each class your instructor will select a curriculum of party games from the following:

  • Tail Wag Competitions
  • Bobbing for hotdogs/tennis balls
  • Ball catch contests
  • Sit Happens
  • Musical Chairs
  • Musical Downs
  • Recall Contests
  • Tic Tac Toe
  • PupCorn catch
  • Crafts with dogs
  • Trick Training
  • Golf – with a twist
  • And more
  • Our AKC CGC graduates will have the opportunity to earn the AKC Novice Trick title at the end of class for an additional testing fee.

Requirements for class:
Your pup should be able to be in the presence of other dogs without issues and should have some basic obedience skills of sit, down and come.  Your pup does not have to be advanced, but at least knowing some basics will help.  This class with help them practice these skills.

Fido’s Festivities is a 4 week program at $100 per dog + tax.  Classes meet once per week. Payment in full is due at the time of registration.   All pups must be up to date on vaccines in accordance with The Town’s policy.  The festivities are exclusive and space is limited to 8 pups per party– reserve NOW to secure your spot.

Pet First Aid & CPR Certification @ Bow chika Wow Town

This 3 hour comprehensive pet first aid and certification class will provide you with the skills to care for your pet in an emergency.    At the end of class you will be tested on your knowledge to earn your CPR Certification.   If you pass the test, you will receive a certificate verifying your completion of the course and the topics you have learned.   Your certification is good for 2 years and also counts as continuing education credits through these professional organizations:

  • International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
  • National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors
  • Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers

Canine Good Citizen Program (CGC) @ Bow chika Wow Town

We are pleased to host Jenni Coes as our CGC Instructor!

The CGC concept applies to both ends of the leash and all CGC classes include training for the owner on responsible dog ownership.   The CGC is a six week program at $175 per dog.  Classes meet once per week.

The CGC program prepares your dog to take the ten step test offered by the AKC, which presents a training curriculum stressing responsible pet ownership and basic good manners for dogs including:

  • Accepting a Friendly Stranger
  • Sitting Politely for Petting
  • Appearance and Grooming
  • Out for a Walk (Walking on a Loose Leash)
  • Walking Through a Crowd
  • Sit and Down on Command
  • Staying in Place
  • Coming When Called
  • Reaction to Another Dog
  • Reaction to Distractions
  • Supervised Separation

CGC is also the first step you need to take if you are thinking of doing any therapy dog work.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program @ Bow chika Wow Town

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start.   This 6 week program will cover the following components to make your puppy a STAR!

Responsibility

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training classes teach the foundation for basic functional skills such as sit, down and come and provides the opportunity to socialize with other puppies and people.  A positive reinforcement approach is used to teach young puppies the basics of skills.

When puppies are older, or near the end of a 6-weeks class, they will be able to perform S.T.A.R. behaviors more independently.   The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is an incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class.

AKC Community Canine CGCA @ Bow chika Wow Town

AKC CGCA – The advanced level of AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program.

The CGCA is a six week program at $175 per dog. Classes meet once per week and may include field trips out for training. Graduation and testing will take place on the last day of class.

AKC Community Canine is the third and most advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen Program. In AKC Community Canine, dogs can earn the CGCA (Advanced CGC) title.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BEGIN:
To earn the AKC Community Canine (CGCA) title, your dog must have a Canine Good Citizen test on record. CGC is a prerequisite for the AKC Community Canine (CGCA) title.

To earn the CGCA title, your pup must pass all 10 items of the test to receive the CGCA title.
• Dog stands, sits or lies down and waits under control
• Walks on a loose leash in a natural situation (not in a ring) — does not pull
• Walks on loose leash through a crowd
• Dog walks past distraction dogs present; does not pull
• Sit — stay in small group (3 other people with dogs)
• Down or sit stay — distance
• Dog allows person who is carrying something (backpack, computer bag, etc.) to approach and pet it
• “Leave it.” Dog walks by food and follows owner instructions, Down or sit stay — distance (owner’s choice)
• Recall with distractions present (coming when called)
• Dog will sit or stand/stay while owner enters/exits a doorway

All graduates receive a personalized diploma PLUS a certificate for one full day of daycare with us (a $32 value!)

Pet Photos with the Easter Bunny @ Bow chika Wow Town

Bow chika Wow Town is excited to host our 1st ever Easter Bunny Photo session!   This event is being run by the fabulous volunteers from Rhode Home Rescue and all proceeds will go to benefit the rescue dogs in their care.

Appointments are preferred – so book your spot early as we are sure this will sell out!
